Case Study: HealthOPM’s Successful Mass Hiring for a Recently Developed 632-Room Long-Term Care Home in Mississauga.

HealthOPM, a leading staffing and recruitment provider, was engaged to oversee the mass hiring of 373 Personal Support Workers, Registered Practical Nurses, and Registered Nurses for a new long-term care home in Mississauga, Ontario. This project presented unique challenges due to the scale of hiring within a tight timeframe of 90 days and evolving requirements.

CLIENT BACKGROUND

The client, one of the largest care home operators in Ontario, whose parent company is a leading hospital, was opening a new facility in Mississauga. With plans to close down an existing facility and relocate staff to the new location, they sought HealthOPM’s assistance to rapidly fill the gaps in staffing to ensure a smooth transition.

  • Hiring Volume: The urgency of hiring 370 Personal Support Workers, Registered Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses within a stringent timeline (90 days) was an ambitious endeavor.
  • Evolving Requirements: The client’s shifting requirements, including changes in the category of workers, their numbers and shift allocations, added complexity. 
  • Relocation of Existing Staff: The client planned to move existing staff members to the new location, necessitating the filling of specific shift lines.
  •  Utilizing our Client’s existing human capital management system (HCM). 
  • Historical data suggests a lower hiring success rate during the season in which we were conducting recruitment.
